i hate this term...waiting. it's been bothering me a lot lately. waiting for a good tan to develop, waiting in traffic, waiting for the new semester to start (and waiting for when i have to leave this blessed place), waiting for letters to come in the mail, waiting for a paycheck, and waiting to be reunited with certain people.
i recently saw a blog post about dating/waiting for certain people while they are on missions. for those of you who are not mormon who follow this blog, missionaries are usually 19 year old men who are voluntarily called to spend 2 years of their lives preaching the gospel in various parts of the world. for us girls, we can go at 21, or spend our whole 19-21 year old lives waiting for "our missionary" for 2 years. it's practically torture. i didn't understand this problem fully until i had a missionary friend out of my own. anyways, the girl writing the blog pretty much confessed her love for a certain missionary and gushed about how perfect he was. at the end, she decided in her writing that she certainly was not "waiting" for this boy to come home. say whattt? this got me thinking. i wouldn't say that i have "a missionary", but honestly, i don't really know about that one anymore.
i have thought for many months about why i literally never date anyone. maybe it's my fault, but maybe it's not. my parents have said that i'm one of those people who will meet one person and know that they are the one and that i won't date very many people because i just don't want to waste my time. i'm pretty sure that they're right. i wouldn't say that i'm on the hunt for the perfect person, but i'm certainly not just waiting around for him either. i'm only 19! i'm young, baby!
i guess my point in this is just to say that maybe i've already met the person and he's right in front of my face. maybe i've met him and he's on a mission. maybe i haven't met him and he's on a mission. or maybe i haven't met him and i will in due time. i'm saying this, women, don't get caught up in waiting for certain people, because you never know what Heavenly Father's timing is. you might end up waiting a loooong time. i've learned this in the last couple of months. it's not worth it! if you are one of those girls who has a missionary, don't wait! date! get a good education and make new friends. live life and stop worrying about your "timeline." there is no set timeline. you create your own timeline. write your missionary and tell him how proud you are of him, but don't confuse him even more by confessing your love to him through a letter. do that when he gets back. he (and you) will be much less confused.
sorry for ranting. this has just been on my mind because it's a little problem that i've been thinking about recently. i shouldn't think so deeply sometimes.
